India Export inland services There are two modes of operation for Export Haulage.
Option 1 | Shipper PDA (Pre-Deposit Account): As per this option, the rail transportation is directly payable by shipper to the rail operator. This is also known as Merchant haulage. As per this setup though Place of Receipt (POR) on the B/L is same as inland acceptance location, Line is not liable to arrange for Inland Haulage. The cost of positioning equipment into such inland locations is rolled into the Dry Port Surcharge. Since Inland rail transportation cost is paid by shipper directly to the rail operator, IHE is not invoice-able to the customer. |

The two modes of operation above are available only for export shipment. All import shipment follows Line PDA setup only. Depending upon the market practice, each location has a defined PDA option which is offered to the customer. So INBLR, INDOM, INBHS, INHOS, INHOK, INSAC, INPNQ follow 100% Line PDA setup; whereas all the other export acceptance location offer 100% shipper PDA option.

Maersk is our valued partner and our engagement on shipping side has grown with them over years. Their rail combined solution has helped us with timely equipment availability at our Jamnagar plant and at the same time has helped us contribute to the environment through the carbon saving. We expect similar end-to-end solutions from Maersk going forward which are sustainable and give us cost advantage.
The end-to-end delivery solution through multimodal transportation involving black train a Maersk dedicated fleet has really helped us in reducing the transit time and made our supply chain more visible/predictable. Also, flexible ICD/train/Road solutions ensure committed delivery without additional cost exposure due to any change in the network/initial delivery plan. It also helps us to enjoy addition capacity to plug and play basis during peak season to manage demand and supply.
