Improve operational efficiency with Supply Chain Management by Maersk.
Decoding logistical trends and opportunities in Asia
With the logistical landscape barely out of the turbulence experienced in the last few years, geopolitical tensions have already triggered a globalisation reset. Supply chains in the Asia Pacific region are facing a new set of challenges, ranging from slow economic growth to labour issues and growing demand for logistics that helps reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
A detailed analysis of the latest trends also spotlights the potential opportunities for business growth afforded by the right shift in logistical approach. According to experts, the right shift comprises switching to logistics that helps decarbonise and digitalisation.
Despite logistical challenges and the global economic downturn, the Asia Pacific region remains the hub of manufacturing. However, businesses in the region are increasingly outsourcing the management of their supply chains to able lead logistics providers that have the reach and capability to promote supply chain resilience.
Navigate supply chain complexities with complete confidence
Supply Chain Management by Maersk can add efficiency to your day-to-day operations with 4 important considerations.
Say hello to green logistics by Maersk
Maersk is committed to improving life for all by integrating the world. In line with this guiding principle, our products and services help unlock value and growth, with an eye on decarbonisation commitments.
That’s why we’ve invested heavily in logistics that ensure low to very low emissions. As a result, our innovations like Emissions Visibility Dashboard are helping shippers track their supply chain emissions across all carriers and modes. This is providing for formulation and implementation of decarbonisation-centric optimal logistics strategies that have their roots in data. We’ve also invested in ocean shipping decarbonisation with ECO Delivery – an initiative that replaces fossil fuels with lower GHG emissions fuels* in Maersk Ocean Transport.
*Maersk defines “lower GHG emissions fuels” as fuels with minimum 65% reductions of GHG emissions very low GHG emissions over their lifecycle compared to fossil fuels. See https://www.maersk.com/sustainability/our-esg-priorities/climate-change/decarbonising-ocean-shipping for more details.
How can digitalisation optimise your supply chain?
Maersk helped one of its customers – a multinational company that serves as the global sourcing office for a retail and wholesale corporation – quantify and optimise key supply chain metrics through digitalisation. This enabled the company to exceed its savings target.
Maersk leveraged its Container Freight Station (CFS) facilities to drive the origin-based export activities of the company – this allowed the company to enjoy the CFS volume incentive program. Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) connectivity was implemented to ensure total coordination across the entire supply chain. Maersk also introduced a dynamic shipment planning system that ensured optimal utilisation of containers.
The result: the company exceeded its savings target within a year of commencing Supply Chain Management services with Maersk. signing the Supply Chain Management contract. It generated 1.1 million USD in value by
- Increasing consolidation facility volume.
- Reducing the number of containers shipped with dynamic shipment planning.
- Generating value from tech-enabled optimisation of key supply chain pain points.
