Update 10 – 21st August

In our previous communications, we had kept you abreast of the evolving situation in Bangladesh and it’s impact on operations.

The interim government has been working steadily towards returning the country back to its normal state of affairs. All educational institutions, including universities, secondary schools and colleges, reopened on 18 August across the country. All public and private offices are normalizing as well. All Maersk offices are operational with regular staff during normal business hours.

Port operations continue in a good rhythm with a steady labor and authority presence, smooth functionality of relevant online systems and normal container movements. Rail freight operations have also been coming back to normalcy since its resumption on 12 August. With factories back to business as usual, we are witnessing a smooth inflow and outflow of trucks to and from our Container Freight Stations (CFS).

Similarly, intra-Bangladesh and cross-border movements are steadily coming back to normal as well. The reduction in flight frequencies had caused a backlog of cargo and space constraints. But as air freight operations are gradually returning to normalcy, our teams are working tirelessly to tackle this and keep your cargo moving.

Ensuring the smooth movement of your cargo and the safety of our employees are our utmost priority. As the situation is still very fluid and constantly evolving, we will continue to keep a close eye on developments and take necessary safety measures as needed.

Please do not hesitate to contact your local Maersk representative in case of any further queries or concerns. Our teams are always available to support you.

Thank you for your understanding and patience during this challenging time.
