Updated Storage and D&D Policy for Nicaragua – Exports

Please be advised that Maersk’s Export storage fee and our policies over combined detention for Nicaragua, will be revised for new deals shipments with an origin price calculation date (PCD) on or after 01-April-2026. 

This adjustment reflects the increasing costs charged directly by terminals, which can no longer be absorbed by Maersk. These charges, that include both storage and power supply, are beyond Maersk control and are necessary to maintain service reliability in the region. 

These costs are passed through transparently and comply with international conventions and local laws governing shipping and carrier responsibilities. 

Why are costs increasing? Terminals in Nicaragua have implemented higher tariffs due to rising operational expenses, increased energy prices, and congestion-related inefficiencies. These factors have significantly impacted storage and handling costs, making it necessary for Maersk to adjust its tariffs.
