We would like to inform you of a major infrastructure disruption affecting international rail services in the Barcelona region. Spanish rail infrastructure manager ADIF has announced the complete closure of the Rubí tunnel, located between Castellbisbal and Rubí, starting 14 March 2026 at 00:00 for urgent structural repairs. The expected duration of the closure is 5 to 7 weeks. This tunnel is a critical link for freight flows between Spain and France, and its shutdown makes it impossible to operate our train services between Barcelona and France.

Due to this, Maersk must temporarily suspend the following services in both directions:

  • Barcelona / Toulouse (Fenouillet)
  • Barcelona / Lyon (Loire-sur-Rhône)

The closure follows disruptions earlier in January this year, when the Rubí tunnel was initially shut down after structural deterioration and later reopened with limitations. Renewed structural movement now requires a full interruption of traffic.

Maersk teams are actively working with partners to identify alternative routings. We will continue to update you as soon as ADIF provides new information or as operational alternatives become available.

We appreciate your understanding and remain committed to minimizing the impact on your supply chain.
