Please note as guidance, where containers have been transhipped from another port on a Domestic Transhipment Request (DTR) e.g. Tauranga/NZTRG to Auckland/NZAKL, and the Import Declaration is submitted with the Location of Goods (LoG) as NZTRG the holds will not come off the port in Port of Auckland.

  • For containers on a Simplified BACC (issued by Trade Single Window). Inform the agent to update the LoG field in the Import Declaration lodgement to NZAKL, this will clear the holds at POAL port.
  • For containers on a BACC that have been issued by MPI Target Evaluation Team (TET) The agent will need to do two things. Update the LoG field in the lodgement and contact MPI. Updating the LoG field does not lift the port hold in this case as it does not send the lodgement to the active queue for TET to process. Agent must contact MPI. The Agent can contact Target Evaluation or when updating their lodgement, they add a comment stating the need to have a hold removed at “x” port in their application and using the MBR code to get the consignment to come to the TET active queue for processing.

This process will also apply when Containers are transhipped by sea from NZTRG to NZAKL to reduce congestion at Metro port and a DTR is submitted for these containers.
