For the fourth year in a row, A.P. Moller - Maersk has been recognised as a Leader in the 2025 Gartner Magic Quadrant™ for Third-Party Logistics (3PL) report.

In a world where disruption has become the norm, it has never been clearer that working with a partner that utilises forward-thinking and resilience-focused services for all logistics solutions, including third-party logistics, is key. The Magic Quadrant for Third-Party Logistics, as explained by Gartner, “evaluates the capabilities of global third-party logistics providers and assesses current and future logistics outsourcing trends. Logistics leaders can use this research to assess these leading 3PLs when deciding whether to outsource elements of their logistics operations."

We believe being named a Leader in the 2025 Magic Quadrant for 3PL is a reflection of our strong product strategy, our keen market understanding and well-rounded business solutions for our customers, offering supply chain solutions to customers with a wide range of quality transportation products and logistical services – from ocean, inland and air transportation to warehousing, customs management and beyond.

Meeting tomorrow with more resilience

With global markets evolving fast, and complexities appearing on an almost daily basis, it has never been more apparent that to combat risk, you need resilience. More than ever before, businesses are seeking out ways to add resilience and antifragility to their supply chains, so they can better weather disruptions, hurdles and complexities. Maersk was and remains eager to take on this challenge, and with the introduction of the Gemini cooperation with Hapag-Lloyd and Maersk’s upgraded East-West network, customers are automatically offered more reliability. The innovative network design has the aim of offering reliability above 90% (SeaIntel) once the network is fully phased in. This is already apparent with results from March 2025 showing 90.3% above reliability for the network.

Why is this important? Reliability is a key element of resilience. Prior to the implementation of Maersk East West network and Gemini, the logistics industry was marred with low ocean reliability, with performances at the start of 2024 as low as 37%. Whilst measures were taken to improve this 50+%, this was still not something that offered customers much reliability. Gemini’s network design offers the same reach as the network before, 2M, and utilises improved productivity in hubs and ports to ensure timelines are met. Further, it has the unique ability to isolate delays and congestion, hampering most disruptions from impacting the entire industry, and causing widespread delays.

More agility with more solutions

Risk is like gravity; it’s always there, even though it’s invisible to the naked eye. A vital way to combat risk is to offer optionality. Maersk’s product strategy offers customers solutions that work for them, like Maersk Visibility Studio, giving customers actionable visibility of their supply chains.

We have expanded our air and land fleet. Maersk Air Freight is now covering 94 countries served with 22 global and 50+ regional airline partners, offering solutions to +10,000 customers. We have also further invested in own capacity and control through Maersk Air Cargo with seven owned hubs in key areas, operating ten Boeing Freighters and two New Boeing 777s.

Our inland solutions have also expanded, with 1,000,000+ transport corridors to and from global ports available to customers and expanded our container depots and warehouses to 500 in total.

Additionally, we have invested in technology and utilised AI and digital capabilities to increase standardisation in our services, as well as continued to automate, optimise and innovate our warehouses.

Full steam ahead to the future of logistics

The world is seeing massive change, and customers’ supply chains remain under pressure. Geopolitical tensions, market fluctuation and changing legislations are adding to an already complex logistics landscape. Whilst the future remains unseen, Maersk’s priority to continue to be our customer integrated logistics partner, is certain.

Resilience is the key word of 2025, and Maersk has already set into motion multiple endeavours to continue to offer supply chain solutions that speak to this. The implementation and launch of the Maersk East-West network and Gemini cooperation have offered customers solutions to disruptions and more optionality than ever before, including more digital options and technology-driven solutions, giving customers the ability to speed up and meet consumer needs. As legislation and tariffs impact supply chains, Maersk continues to offer customers consultant services like customs consultancy, helping customers align to new customs and trade regulations.

Looking ahead, we will keep investing in the things we know can help grow our customers supply chains, including product innovation and integrated logistics, reliability and resilience and more digital solutions and technologies across all supply chains, including visibility solutions, machine learning, advanced analytics, and more automation.

Whilst tomorrow’s logistics needs are still to be decided, we remain committed to delivering a more connected, agile, and sustainable supply chain future for our customers.
