Citizenship
We actively support societies where we operate, leveraging our global reach, expertise and resources and partnering with local communities, nonprofits and customers on social and environmental causes.
Why citizenship matters
Logistics services play a vital role in many crisis situations. From environmental clean-ups and natural disasters to food shortages and humanitarian emergencies, logistics is the means to get help where it is needed.
But the most urgent challenges demand concerted action. That’s why we partner with civil society actors, our industry peers, academia, local authorities and communities to build capacity, prepare emergency responses and support action on the ground.
Our ambition
We engage in global partnerships that leverage Maersk assets and skills to make an impact in prioritised areas aligned with our business and sustainability goals. We support local communities and partners with donations and social investments in accordance with our corporate guidelines.

Contributing to humanitarian aid
As a member of the United Nations-led Logistics Emergency Teams (LET), Maersk, along with logistics peers, join forces to provide pro bono support and consultation services during humanitarian crises and natural disasters.
In 2024, the LET actively coordinated regional aid and relief efforts in response to the ongoing conflict and resulting humanitarian emergency in Gaza. Maersk established a 5,000m2 logistics hub in Amman, Jordan, serving as a consolidation centre to assist over 50 UN partner and humanitarian NGOs and governments delivering cargo to Gaza.

Nothing goes to waste
Maersk’s annual Go Green campaign aims to engage colleagues on environmental stewardship topics, raise awareness, and create a platform for collective action with the communities where we operate.
This year’s Go Green theme, “Nothing goes to waste,” focused on waste management best practices and how they tie into our ESG goals. Employees in over 35 locations participated in local learning events on waste, recycling, and other sustainability topics, and a number of local on- and off-site volunteer events took place including trash cleanups and recycling competitions.
