During the upcoming holiday season period there will be some changes to the normal operating hours which will affect port, depot, and rail operations.

KiwiRail (Block of Line)
KiwiRail have confirmed line closures will affect rail freight services from 12th April until 27th April 2025, effectively between Hamilton and Auckland. The closures are required as part of Auckland’s City Rail Link (CRL) work programme.
KiwiRail are providing a temporary road-bridge solution to provide the same equivalent capacity as the current Metroport train program provides. Trains will continue to run between Port of Tauranga and Hamilton through this period. Dry containers will be road-bridged between Hamilton and Auckland Metroport. Reefer containers will be road-bridged direct to/from Tauranga and Auckland Metroport.
The road-bridging contingency is planned to operate on a business-as-usual basis and Maersk is working closely with Port of Tauranga and KiwiRail, monitoring cargo flows during this period with an aim to deliver seamless service coverage for your cargo.

Please ensure CEDO’s are accurately submitted in advance prior to the Easter Holiday season period, considering any changes to operating hours for the respective terminals.
2025 Public Holidays and Free Time
Maersk will offer extended import and export demurrage & detention freetime during Public Holidays. This concession only applies where Public Holidays fall within a customer’s agreed freetime period and in such cases, the freetime will be extended to include these days.
