BL Counter
BL submission is by reservation only.

Drop-off
BL counter business hours for both Tokyo and Osaka:
Monday, Wednesday, Friday 10:00~12:00
The counter is not open on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Schedule of vessels arriving in Japan
Please click here (Toyo Singo) to check the arrival date/time of vessels arriving in Japan.
You can check the schedule for this week and the previous week.Please refer to the Tracking page for the name of the vessel for each shipment.
Domestic Vessel Schedule
You can search for shipments with confirmed domestic vessel schedules. The schedule of the shipments that have not yet been confirmed will not be displayed.
Inland Vessel Schedule Search Site
The schedule is determined approximately one week after the arrival of the mother vessel, however, the schedule may change depending on weather and congestion.
Documents regarding quarantine cargo should be sent to jp.import@maersk.com by 16:00 the day before the departure of the coastal vessel.
Please contact us if you are unable to do so.
Free time for domestic vessels will be counted from the day the cargo is discharged from the domestic vessel at the port of discharge.
If you wish to pick up your cargo at the port of discharge without using a domestic vessel, please make a request here.

Truck forwarding
Trucks are not automatically sent from Yokohama to Tokyo CY, Kobe to Osaka CY, or Osaka to Kobe CY.Trucks will be sent to each off-dock location upon request.
We apologize for the inconvenience, but please request the desired pick-up date from the link below.
Please make your request by the morning of the 4 business day before the desired pick-up date.
Note: Free time is counted from the day the cargo is unloaded from mother vessel at the port of discharge. (It does not apply after the shipment has been forwarded.)
We cannot accept a request for forwarding of overweight cargo. Please pick up at the port of discharge.
Reefer containers in the Kanto area will be shipped the day before the desired pickup date.
We cannot accept forwarding on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.
CY stop request
If you wish to pick up your cargo at the port of discharge without using the above truck forwarding or domestic vessel forwarding, please make a request here.
Request for door delivery
If CY/SD or SD/SD is indicated on the BL, the contract is for door delivery.
Please contact us with your desired delivery date and address.
Change of destination request
If you wish to change the destination of your shipments to Japan, please request from here.
Please note that we may not be able to accept requests for shipments that are about to arrive in Japan.
We will confirm the operation cost of the COD fee after receiving your request.
The destination change fee will be invoiced to the requester.
Please note that ocean freight charges may change as a result of a change of destination.

Demurrage
Demurrage is payable in advance.
For pickup after free time, please contact us at jp.import@maersk.com with the following information with the subject line "Demurrage Invoice Request" and the text "Date of pickup for each container.”
Once you register Maersk.com, all users can view the free time end date of Demurrage/Detention. *BL customer can see free time days and charges as well. With this system you can also check barge, truck and the door delivery service.
The free time is applied at the location where the container is located. Therefore, please confirm after the date of delivery to the final CY for truck /barge delivery. *it takes a few hours to reflect to the system.
This system is available from 10 days prior to 250 days after arrival.

Day counting
Basic rule:
Free time counting starts from each container's discharge date from vessel (including domestic barge), and ends with the date of laden container gate out from CY.
Exception 1:
Discharge at Yokohama/Delivery at Tokyo, discharge at Kobe/Delivery at Osaka, dischared at Nagoya/Delivery at Yokkaichi
Free time counting starts from each container's discharge date from vessel (including domestic barge), and ends with the date of laden container gate out from CY.
* In case discharge at Kobe/delivery at Osaka CY, free time counting starts from each container's discharge date at Kobe, i.e., 8 days (Osaka free time).
Example : Following case for dry containers.
Exception 2: Dangerous cargoes
No free time is set for dangerous cargoes. Please pick up laden containers right after the discharge from the vessel.
Counting free time and demurrage
Basic rule:
- Counting free time = All days incl. Sat/Sun, but excl. national holidays
- Counting demurrage = All days incl. Sat/Sun/national holidays after expiration of free time.
* We do not have exceptional rules for reefers and botanical inspection any more. Above mentioned basic rule is also applied to such cargo.
Exception 1: In case Monday is substitute holiday, the Monday is exempted from free time counting, but Sunday is not exempted.
Detention
If a container is not returned for an extended period of time, a detention fee will be assessed and a bill will be issued every two weeks after the free period ends.

Day counting
Free time counting starts from the date of laden container pick up from CY, and ends with the date of gate-in empty to depot (included).
Counting free time and detention
- Counting demurrage = All days incl. Sat/Sun/national holidays after expiration of free time.
- Counting free time = All days incl. Sat/Sun, but excl. national holidays
Exception 1: In case Monday is substitute holiday, the Monday is exempted from free time counting, but Sunday is not exempted.
Manifest corrections
Please send manifest correction request by e-mail to jp.import@maersk.com.
If the quantity and weight change, please attach a packing list and certifiable documents.
A handling fee of 2500 yen (excluding tax) will be charged for manifest corrections received after cargo in.
Service restrictions
- Yokohama - Tokyo by land : Dangerous goods cargo cannot be forwarded. ( Except IMO class 9)
- Kobe - Osaka by land : Dangerous goods cargo cannot be forwarded.
Weight/Measurement restrictions
- Weight
Weight limitation on containers transportation on road is restricted in accordance to relevant Japanese local regulation.
Max Gross Weight = Cargo Weight + Container Tare Weight

Twin-Axle : 20FT Container 20,320kg / 40FT Container 24,000kg
Tri-Axle : 20FT Container 24,000kg / 40FT Container 30,480kg
If the above max gross weight is exceeded, we will discontinue within our transportation section and request you to carry out with a low-bed chassis. (Import to Japan) - Max allowance height: 9'6", i.e. if the container is 8'6" height Open-Top, max allowance O/H is 1FT = 30.48 cm.
Commodities restrictions
Prohibited commodities:
- Heroin, Cocaine, MDMA, Opium, Cannabis/Hemp, Stimulants, Psychotropic substances and other Narcotic drugs. And those sucking/smoking tools
- Firearms, Pistols, Machine guns, Hand guns, Rifles, Ammunition/Bullets thereof, and those parts
- Explosive substances
- Gunpowder, Dynamite
- Precursor Material for Chemical Weapon
- Counterfeit, Altered, or Imitation coins, Paper money, Bank notes, or Securities, and Forged credit cards
- Books, magazine, Videotape, CD-Rom and thereof, Drawing, Carvings, sculpture things and any other article which may harm public safety or morals (obscene or immoral materials, e.g., pornography)
- Child Pornography
- Articles which infringe upon intellectual property rights, trade mark, copyright, literary work contiguity right, patent right, utility model right, design right and circuit arrangement utilization right. The goods where such as false brand commodity
- Any of articles which show false indication of the place of origin
Regulated commodities:
- Articles/Live Plants/Live Animals which correspond to ""Washington Treaty""
- Hunting Gun, Air Gun, Sword and cutting instrumental which blade length 15cm and more
- Live Plants, Soil Chemical Fertilizer, Live Animals and Products which harm natural environment and against infection protecting method, plant quarantine method
- Chemicals, Medical supplies, Medical Instruments and thereof in veterinary use
- Alcohol beverage or liquid, which pure alcohol percentage over 90%

Documentation
Must contain following mandatory data elements as per Customs regulations:
- Consignor (Shipper) : Name/Address/Telephone Number/country (UN/LOCODE)
- Consignee : Name/Address/Telephone Number/Country (UN/LOCODE)
- Notify Party : Name/Address/Telephone Number/Country (UN/LOCODE)
"Same as Consignee" or "Same as Above" is not acceptable, Notify Party must have complete details.
For Japan import cargo, notify party must be located in Japan (company, address and telephone number)

Request to change the empty container return location
If you would like to change the empty container return location, please contact us at jp.import@maersk.com.
Drop off charge will be applied for change of return location .The charge is variable depending on time and location.
Please note that we reserve the right to refuse to change the return location.
If the container is damaged or dirty, no changes will be accepted. Please return it to the return location stated on the EIR.
If you have requested a CY stop, please return the container to the location where you picked up the actual container.
